¶ 02 SAMURDHI BANK AND SAMURDHI GENERAL SOCIETIES: ASSETS

¶ 03 Asked the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment:

¶ 04 Will he inform this House — (a) (i) the current value of assets owned by the Samurdhi Bank; (ii) the number of Samurdhi Banks and Samurdhi General Societies in Sri Lanka, separately; and (iii) the current value of assets owned by all Samurdhi General Societies? (b) Will he also inform this House — (i) whether Samurdhi Banks fall under the scrutiny of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka; (ii) if not, the reasons for their exclusion; and (iii) the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Samurdhi Bank? (c) Will he further inform this House — (i) the profit/loss of Samurdhi Bank for the last 10 years, separately; (ii) balance sheet value of Samurdhi Bank for the last 10 years, separately; (iii) shareholders of the Samurdhi Bank; and (iv) interest paid to the depositors and lending rate to the borrowers as adjusted by the Samurdhi Bank, separately? (d) If not, why?
