¶ 02 Preschool Teachers in Kilinochchi District: Salaries 1187/2025

¶ 03 1. The Hon. Gayantha Karunathilleka (on behalf of the Hon. Sivagnanam Shritharan)

¶ 04 Question to the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs:

¶ 05 (a) Will he inform this House— (i) whether he is aware that the Civil Security Department maintains preschools in the Kilinochchi District and that the Civil Security Department pays the salaries of the teachers engaged in teaching in those preschools; (ii) the number of preschools maintained by the Civil Security Department in that district; and (iii) the number of teachers employed in those preschools, who are paid by the Civil Security Department, together with the total monthly salary paid to them?

¶ 06 (b) Will he also inform this House— (i) whether he is aware that money is collected from parents for the uniforms of the students of those preschools; (ii) if so, the amount of money collected from each child; (iii) the reasons for collecting the aforesaid amount of money; and (iv) the reasons for the military symbol being placed on those uniforms?

¶ 07 (c) Will he further inform this House— (i) whether he is aware that those preschools are under the Provincial Council; and (ii) if so, the legal basis for them being run by the Civil Security Department?

¶ 08 (d) If not, why?
