¶ 03 Honourable Members, I wish to inform the House that Hon. Bimal Rathnayake, MP, has been appointed Leader of the House, and Hon. (Dr.) Nalinda Jayathissa, MP, has been appointed Chief Government Whip.

¶ 04 Leader of the Opposition

¶ 05 Honourable Members, I wish to inform the House that I have recognized Hon. Sajith Premadasa, MP, as Leader of the Opposition in the Tenth Parliament.

¶ 06 Orientation Programme on Parliamentary Procedures, Parliamentary Business and Related Matters

¶ 07 Honourable Members elected to the Tenth Parliament are requested to attend the Orientation Programme on Parliamentary procedures, business and related matters to be held on 25th, 26th and 27th November 2024, from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m., in Committee Room No. 01 of Parliament.

¶ 08 Meeting of Committee on Parliamentary Business

¶ 09 Honourable Members, there will be a meeting of Party Leaders under my chairmanship in my official room today immediately after this sitting is adjourned. The Prime Minister, the Deputy Speaker, the Deputy Chairman of Committees, the Leader of the House, the Chief Government Whip, the Leader of the Opposition, the Chief Opposition Whip, and one representative each from political parties and independent groups elected to Parliament at this General Election are requested to attend.

¶ 10 The sitting is suspended accordingly until 11.30 a.m. for the Address by His Excellency the President.

¶ 11 Sitting accordingly suspended till 11.30 a.m. and then resumed.

¶ 12 The Hon. President’s Procession entered the Chamber at 11.30 a.m. and the Hon. President took the Chair at 11.31 a.m. in terms of Article 33(b) of the Constitution.

¶ 13 Mr. Speaker took his seat immediately below the Chair.
