¶ 01 Appointment of Directors to Road Development Authority: Delay

¶ 02 Question to the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation: (a) Will he accept that – (i) the present Government conducted interviews in stages for the appointment of 39 permanent Directors to the Road Development Authority (RDA); (ii) five provincial Directors and 34 Directors were selected during those interviews and the Chairman referred their names to the Board of Directors for approval; (iii) although approximately six months have elapsed, appointments have not yet been made; and (iv) the employees who have served the Authority for many years approaching retirement are expecting promotions, which is fair? (b) Will he inform this House – (i) the reasons for not making the appointments yet; (ii) whether any impediments exist; (iii) what those impediments are; (iv) whether measures are taken to remove them; (v) whether he is aware that the delay adversely affects Government efficiency; and (vi) the date on which the appointments will be effected? (c) If not, why?
