¶ 01 Hon. Minister, thank you for your services. However, Mullaitivu and Mannar remain at the bottom in provision, as often reported to us. In the last sitting, we discussed Mullaitivu General Hospital’s physical resource gaps and you responded compassionately, stating a permanent doctors’ hostel would be provided expeditiously. Subsequently, eight of our MPs also raised this with the Indian High Commissioner, who assured timely action.

¶ 02 On 06.06.2025 the Ministry listed 64 hospitals islandwide as internship training centres covering 23 districts. Yet this facility, available even in many of the 28 Base Hospitals, is absent in our 24th and 25th districts, Mannar and Mullaitivu, evidencing unequal provision. Mullaitivu has a shortage of 21 doctors, no permanent specialist, needs 23 pharmacists and 13 nursing officers. As of 21.07.2025, there are over 300 cadre vacancies in Mullaitivu health services—clear evidence of inequity.

¶ 03 My first supplementary: When will you bring Mannar and Mullaitivu hospitals into parity—removing them from the list of hardship stations—so we can access the same standard of care you enjoy?
